WHILE SPENDING THE MONTH OF JULY with her Aunt Amy in the country, Cathy discovers a tiny pair of black boots under a stump. They belong to Wiley, one of the little people called 'Snippets' who live in the cedar glen. Wiley offers Cathy his friendship if she can answer a riddle; the secret and its surprises come later.
